The old shepherd finds Desiree's bracelet and hurries to the hamlet of Sado where he hopes to find her sister.

"Desiree! Oh my sweet child whatever shall become of you? I must tell Jane of this."

He knows that Jane can often be ound cavorting at Braggarts Inn.
A woman of loose moral character she is the complete opposite of Desiree.
But he also knows that she is fiercly protective of her sister and if anybody can save Desiree it is her.

"Shouldn't you be counting sheep?"

Meanwhile inside the tavern.

"Out of my way oaf I have to find Jane urgently."

"Lose this and you shall keep me warm in my bed tonight."

"Or more likely you will be sleeping with the pigs out the back."
